Jamaican Jerk Prawns Recipe

This prawn dish packs a punch with tempting Jamaican jerk flavours! You won’t be able to believe how easy this recipe is especially once you try the delicious prawns after!

1 onion, minced
3 spring onions, cleaned and chopped
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger, minced
3-4 scotch bonnet chillies
1 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
8 cloves
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp whole pimento
3 bay leaves
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp cider vinegar
3 tbsp water
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sea salt
250g raw headless king prawns


  1. In a blender or food processor, place all the ingredients apart from king prawns
  2. Blend well. Pour most of the Jamaican Jerk mixture over the prawns to marinade. Save some of the marinade for basting the prawns whilst cooking.
  3. Preheat an outdoor grill or BBQ onto medium heat
  4. Cook the marinated prawns on the bbq basting regularly during cooing – cook for 3-4 minutes each side
