Ceviche Mussels with Salsa Recipe

This Mexican inspired dish is so fresh and zesty with the acidity of the lime juice used to cured the mussels rather than cooking them!

800g half shell mussels
1 spring onion, sliced
Zest of 1/2 lime
2 limes juiced, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
10 cherry tomatoes, chopped
1 chilli, chopped
1 tsp white sugar
1 tbsp coriander, chopped
2 tbsp tomato juice
Tabasco sauce, to taste
Salt & pepper


  • Combine the mussels and the lime juice together. Leave to marinate for 3 minutes so the mussels cure
  • Add the spring onion, lime zest, onion, tomatoes, chilli, sugar, coriander, and tomato juice. Mix together until the salsa is all mixed together
  • Taste and add tabasco, salt, and pepper to your liking
