We harvest The Big Prawn Company squid using a traditional lantern catching technique as it is the most sustainable and environmentally friendly process. We source our squid from Indonesia, then wash and prepare, so it is easy to cook for you.
Our Indonesian squid is caught from the Malacca Strait, a stretch of seawater between Sumatra and Malaysia. Fishermen use a lamp netting method and squid is jig caught using pole & line. Each of the fishermen’s boats have been registered with the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Department (MAAF). The squid is BRC certified and SEDEX registered and SMETA audited.
