Welcome to the latest issue of Big Prawn News! The start of 2010 has seen some exciting changes that we highlight here but look forward to being able to tell you about in more detail at the European Seafood Exposition 2010 in Brussels. The arrival of the spring bulbs in the beautiful countryside around our Norfolk site has coincided with the move into our new office building – giving us the space we need for our expanding workforce (not to mention expanding filing cabinets!).

We are also extremely excited to announce that we have recently acquired a new factory site, adjacent to our existing premises, which will enable us to ramp up manufacturing capacity to 6 times our current levels - accommodating our five year expansion plan.

And last, but by no means least, we have 3 exciting new products that will be launched in Brussels….. Hope to see you there!

Seafood Prix d'EliteFinalists four years running

We’re hoping it will be cocktails all round at this year’s European Seafood Exposition!

For the fourth year running we’ve been nominated as finalists for the show’s prestigious Prix d’Elite Awards.

Our Crayfish with a Dijon & Dill Mayo was reviewed by the contest screening committee and short-listed as a finalist out of the thousands of entries in the New Products category.

Crayfish with a Dijon & Dill Mayo is a modern twist on the retro classic Prawn Cocktail. We’ve replaced the standard Prawn with premium Crayfish tails and combined these with a delicious mayonnaise based on an elegant balance of mustard and herbs. This product is a great companion to our already hugely successful King Prawn with a Sweet Chilli Mayo and our King Prawn Cocktail.

Three new products debut in Brussels

We’ve got three new exciting products that will be previewed in Brussels, ready to launch this summer: King Prawns with a Cajun Spiced Salsa, Seafood Medley (King Prawns, Mussels and Squid rings) with a Cajun Spiced Marinade and Mussels with a Sundried Tomato & Basil Marinade.

These are Mediterranean/tapas-style products – for cold eating either as a snack on their own, as a topping for bruschetta or salads, or to accompany other Mediterranean dishes as part of a tapas plate, such as olives and hummus. The King Prawns with a Cajun Spiced Salsa can also be eaten hot – simply undo the lid, follow the microwave guidelines and pour over pasta, couscous or use as a gourmet topping for grilled fish. All three products are packed in 180g, sleeved tubs for ultimate convenience and will have serving suggestions printed on the sleeve.

This year we’ve doubled the size of our stand so that we are able to provide more hospitality during the 3 days.
